Rolling Over

The day before H's 4 month birthday, he decided he would start rolling over back to front without assistance or supervision. It has taken away all "just lay him on the sofa for a sec" freedom. He enjoys doing it when no one is watching, especially daddy. J spent 10 minutes attempting to get it on tape on Christmas morning and H waited until he went into the kitchen to get breakfast out of the oven to roll onto his stomach and then back again. (He has pretty much mastered the stomach to back roll.) Here are a couple post roll over pics.

Stripping

H gets "naked time," to let his skin 'breathe,' before and after bath time each night and after diaper changes. I'm convinced he will be one of those kids who runs throughout the house as soon as he is undressed...he already tries. Since I don;t want to be charged with child pornography, I chose to take a pic with the diaper still on. Plus, we learned this last weekend that he is embarrassed when people see his white cellulitey bum.

Escaping...

We now have to strap H into everything. After this escape attempt, we learned we can no longer just put him down in the swing...

Or bouncy seat for that matter...

Teething

So H started the teething process about a month ago, but has really gotten into it these past 2 weeks. He has been running the low grade fever, fussing, soaking every outfit with drool and putting EVERYTHING in his mouth! Here are a few pics of him chomping on his own hand. He prefers our fingers though.

Four Legs

Sunday morning, after waking up very early, I put H back in my bed to sleep a little later while J and I got ready for church. When I went back in the room to get dressed, I came across a 4 legged child. H's PJs are all 3-6 months in size and WAY too big for him. I'm hoping they will fit him through the end of winter. He had managed to kick open the middle two crotch snaps and his legs escaped. To add to it, he left one sock behind in the foot of the PJs. I had to take a couple pictures!

Getting Clean and Staying Clean

So I'm trying to get updated on blogs before the Christmas break comes and I'm swamped with blog topics. H LOVES his baths! I've never known a boy as worried about being clean as him. As soon as he wets or soils his diaper, he fusses for a new one...and I really mean AS SOON. He loves every bit of bath time...except getting out. If he is going to cry at all during bath time, it will be when it is time to get out.

However, I have come up with a routine that seems to help things run smoother. I'm usually doing bath time by myself, so the smoother the better. Before running the bath, I put his hooded towel, a big white towel, and his PJs in the dryer. I then start the bath, with his help. He get so excited when we go in the bathroom to run the water. I then take him in get undressed and have the diaper and medicine ready for after bath time. We grab the hooded towel and leave the rest in the running dryer.

After a long bath time, complete with singing, splashing and washing, we use the hooded towel (which is still fairly warm) to dry off. I grab the big towel and PJs from the dryer. I then wrap him up in the big whit towel and he loves it! I haven't had tears at the end of bath time recently with this routine. His PJs are also nice and warm when we are finished with "naked time."

However, Sunday night we had a new experience that H found hilarious. I ALWAYS bundle him in the white towel and let him enjoy the soft warm feeling for a while before putting him in a diaper and PJs. On Sunday, I was putting away laundry while he was watching. He was wrapped all warm, but of course kicking and moving all around, as usual. Next thing I know, we have Old Faithful! He had managed to kick the towel just enough to have about an inch opening. And Talented Mr. H managed to aim his pee through that hole, straight into the air and back down on the outside of the towel and his changing pad. I was amazed by how he kept himself clean and kept my bed clean. He thought it was hilarious, and when I found that it only got on the towel and pad, I had a good laugh too. I can only hope he has this great of aim when it comes to the toilet!

Here are some pictures from before the peeing incident.

Dedicated to God

A couple weeks ago H had his dedication ceremony. It is mainly a commitment service for J and I to commit to raising him in a Godly home, focused on God and attending church. We didn't really get very good documentation of it...but here is what we got.

Afterwards, GiGi got her family Christmas card picture.

We decided to get a clear family shot also.
