Two Months and Growing!

On Wednesday we celebrated H's 2 month birthday! It is crazy that it has been 2 months already. We have had such a great time so far. On Thursday, he had his two month check-up. Everyone had me so worried about how he would be at getting shots. He is such a laid back baby, there was nothing to worry about. The nurse explained that there would be one "drink" immunization, and then 2 shots (one in each leg). He took the liquid like it was nothing. He is wonderful at taking Zantac for his reflux...he just smacks his lips and makes a look like, "if you insist mommy." (Zantac smells AWFUL and the Dr. says that if he takes that with no problem, he will probably take anything.) The nurse gave him his 1st shot and he started to fuss a little right as she gave the 2nd. He of course screamed for a few seconds and calmed down when no more followed. He got two cool Garfield Band aids and was fine by the time we got off the elevator. I took a few pictures.

After the 2nd shot. Whit thinks I'm an awful mommy for taking this picture.

Here is one of his cool Garfield Band aids.

Here he is before we headed out the door. Not even 5 minutes after the shots. What a brave boy!

On a positive note, H is a whopping 10 pounds, 10 ounces. He is also 22 inches long. This puts him at 25th percentile for each...a nice improvement from 5th percentile in weight at 3 weeks! He is constantly eating...and it must be paying off! This was our first visit that they weren't concerned about his growing (or lack there of).

Back to work so soon

Unfortunately, on Monday I had to return to work. However, we are extremely blessed to have Whitney (my sister) nannying for us! She has quasi moved in with us...she returns home on the weekends for a break from us. It is absolutely wonderful! We just have to walk upstairs in the morning and let her know when we are leaving. She is here, in our home, with H all day to love on him and keep him safe. I have to admit that it has made returning to work so much better.

I have often been asked how it was to be back and honestly answer, "I'm so ridiculously busy at work, I don't have time to miss him." It has definitely been a lot better than I anticipated. The students are great and time flies while I'm there.

On Monday, I left early to get to work and ready for the day. J was in charge of taking H up with Whitney and letting her know we were gone. When I got home, Whit shared with me how the morning played out. She heard us moving around downstairs and H fussing. Whit was going in and out of sleep. She then heard me leave for work and H was quiet (that is because H started fussing when I was heading out the door so I got a bottle ready for J to feed him before leaving). I called J about 20 minutes later to see if he got out the door. I quickly realized he hadn't since I could hear H crying loud and clear. I told J, "We are paying Whit to watch him, take him upstairs, put him in his swing and let her know you are leaving for work." However, Whit informed me that she heard someone upstairs but J never came to her room and she fell back asleep. At about 8:00 she woke up to hear H fussing, she looked at the clock and decided J must be gone for work, even though he never told her that he was leaving. She was a bit confused though, because H was not in her room (where I bring his swing and leave him when I leave), but she could tell he was upstairs. She got up and found him in the middle of his nursery (he does not sleep in there yet) swinging in his swing, probably upset about being alone. I had to explain to take him into Whit's room so she can hear/watch him. The rest of the mornings were better.

Here are a few pictures of H throughout the week. He had a great time with Aunt Whit.

This is what I came home to on Monday. What a cutie!!

H enjoys playing with Aunt Whit.

He is usually back asleep after eating breakfast in the morning when I leave. Here he is Wednesday morning...fast asleep.

Birthday and Playdate

Last Saturday we had a small birthday celebration to attend. We celebrated Allison's birthday and had an oppertunity to visit with good friends. H and Lily will definitely be easy for Whitney since the two of them are NEVER awake at the same time! It was really hilarious. When we got there, H was asleep from the car ride and Lily was wide awake. She began to fall asleep just as J woke H up. The remainder of the night they took turns waking up and falling asleep.

We had a great time just taking a Saturday night out with friends. I've dicovered that those are rare with an infant. Also, H had a fun time with some others his size. (I don't think he realizes they were his size though.) Here are a couple pictures, I unfortunately only took a few.

H checking everything out while having some tummy time.

H hanging out with Addysen. They didn't realize the other was there, except maybe when Kristina put Addysen down and Hudson stuck his hand in her face.

Smiles

H has finally decided to share his smiles with more than mommy. I've even caught a couple on camera. Each day he is enjoying playtime more and more. Today, he was playing and when I came to check on him, he was kicking and waving and smiling. For the most part, he just waves his arms around and accidentally hits the hanging toys. Today, I'm sure by accident, he spun the one that makes music. We made a big deal...but he still didn't do it again.

Here are a couple smiles I caught with the camera.

While hanging out on the Boppy.

At night when it was time to be sleeping.

Watching mommy putting away laundry...actually, watching the fan and light while mommy puts away launry.

Right after spitting his entire meal up all over himself and me.

While playing this morning.

On aunt Whit's lap...caught the end of the smile.

Our handsome little dude

When H was 1 week old my wonderful cousin came and took amazing pictures! She took 320 pictures and ended up with 85 great ones. I absolutely love them all but here are a few of my favorites. They are all on my photobucket page.

And my ultimate favorite!!

And another for the list...

Since H has had a cold, his sleeping has been broken and we have had a lot of spit up. I thought it was the congestion bothering his stomach and didn't think too much of it. Well after a couple episodes of throwing up everything and refusing to eat yesterday, we headed to the doctor. H was diagnosed with reflux. It explains a lot...but is a huge bummer. He was pitiful enough with congestion...which I'm beginning to think may be allergies verses a cold; but the reflux adds a level of pitifulness. It breaks my heart to see him so uncomfortable because even simple hiccups bring up his last meal. He started with his medicine last night and will at least eat now. We hope that things will continue to improve and we can go through fewer bibs and clothing changes.

H playing...well occasionally hitting the hanging toys but not caring at all and staring at the couch cushion instead.

On an unrelated note, tonight when Aunt Whit and mommy gave H a bath, he fell asleep. He enjoys his bath time, which is wonderful. But how do you fall asleep in the bath?

H asleep in the bath.

After H's bath, Aunt Whit gave him a Mohawk.
